Can't submit my return. Authentication error message 1046

The error message received from HMRC indicates your Gateway ID and password you have provided are not recognised by HMRC.

 

Please:

 

1. Log out of GoSimpleTax and back in again, this clears the Gateway ID and passsword you have entered.

 

2. Clear your browsing history/cache or open a new tab with private browsing.

 

3. Check you are using the correct ID and password.

 

4. Type in the Gateway ID and password, do not use copy and paste.

 

Once you have made these changes please follow the submission process. 

 

Please note that if you are filing tax returns for multiple people then you will need each persons Gateway ID and password to complete the submissions for them.
