SA103s Box 34: How do I set off the self employed loss against other income for 2024–25?

If you have a Self Employed loss from the current year and want this to be carried back to previous years and set off against income (or capital gains), please follow the steps below:

  1. If you have not added the Self Employed page already, please click on + NEW PAGE on the left of the screen.


  1. Select Self Employment (SA103) from the list shown:

  1. Then add your income and expenses in the relevant sections.
  2. Once you have done that, click the + GROUP button:


  1. Then select 'Tax Adjustments' from the list shown:

  1. Once added, select 'Current year losses to be carried back to a previous tax year'



  1. Then complete the boxes in that page and click SAVE:

These state that you also need to make an entry in the Additional Information Box on Page 7 of the tax return.  You can add a note in the software at the bottom of the ALMOST THERE page. You are taken to this page when you click SAVE, CONTINUE and then YES.
